    • I purchased my Chevy at Stahl Cheverolet because my family and the Stahl family go way back, but their service department is very poorly run. I also live and work closer to City, so I thought I would give it a try. So glad that I did. I have worked with Bill Graber everytime and he is wonderful. Polite, tells me what I need, what I could use... More

Chevrolet and the Evolution of American Muscle

    Last updated 2 months ago

Since the 1950s, Chevrolet has created high-performance vehicles that combine stylish innovation with unbeatable power. Let’s take a look at how Chevrolet’s performance models have transformed from the earliest muscle cars to the sleek sports cars of today:

    Camaro

The Chevrolet Camaro has been one of the most popular Chevy sport models since it was first introduced in 1964. With superior performance and handling, the Camaro is iconic for its streamlined body style and limit pushing capabilities. The design of the Camaro has evolved to meet the standards of today’s sport car enthusiast. In 2013, the Chevrolet Camaro features a supercharged 6.2L engine that boasts 580 horsepower. The history of American muscle cars lives on in this sleek and performance-ready model.

    Impala

The Chevy Impala was first introduced in 1958 as a top of the line Bel Air. In 1961, Chevrolet debuted a sport model of the Impala, called the Impala SS. The Impala Super Sport was equipped with a 409-cubic inch V8 engine. With its distinctive styling and over the top horsepower, the Impala SS defined the early era of muscle cars.

    Chevelle

The Chevrolet Chevelle first joined Chevrolet’s sports car lineup in 1964. Unlike the Impala, which was known for its imposing stature, the Chevelle SS was a midsize car that performed well on both the street and the racetrack. By the early 1970s, a restyled body design and even more powerful engine marked the height of the Chevelle’s popularity as a top choice for muscle car enthusiasts.

    Corvette

Chevrolet first created the Corvette in 1953 as a mid-sized convertible. In 1963, at the height of the American muscle car era, the Corvette was revamped with a 425-horsepower engine and was known as the Sting Ray. The powerful Corvette continues to be one of Chevrolet’s most popular sport models. The 2013 Corvette features a 430 horsepower, V8 engine and has a sleek design inspired by the original Sting Ray.
